Lectors are men and women from the parish who minister to the community in the celebration of the Mass. They read the Sacred Scriptures, and the Intercessions, during Mass and other liturgical celebrations.

Lectors ought to have a good, strong, speaking voice. Since they are visible in the sanctuary, and represent the parish in their ministry, they ought to dress modestly and their manner of life ought to be in keeping with their sacred duties. Their ministry extends beyond the sanctuary, and necessarily includes personal reflection on the Scriptures, a deep prayer life, and continued practice of their readings before Mass.
